WHAT HAPPENED

That's what John asked me the first time I met him, when I showed him the work I had done for Paper Museum.  I didn't even have to look at the book to know what panel he was talking about...

All right, I probably should have looked anyway.
But it would have been THIS

or THIS

or THIS...

you get the picture.

SO when the president of a national organization gives it to you straight like that, you eventually get to thinking...
"Self, is that really the best you can do?"
No, you will likely answer, if you are an honest chap. Then you will likely tear up your comic book (not the signed one tho) so that the pages fit through your scanner. And you will photoshop them to ribbons.

But you will NOT try to animate the pages, because...

Hmmm....

Dadsterworks

My friend Bill and I both have little ones around the house, and when we get the itch to draw we have to be able to do it at off times and usually in 90 minutes or less. Enter the lightbox and my giant-sized Kirby Collector magazine...

working like the King himself, top left across and down in reading order, we put ourselves in the reflected glow of one of comicdom's greatest visionaries. Is it lame to copy? Maybe. But I'm not claiming I created this page. Only that I had a great time doing what I did, and that it is awesome to be able to hold the finished pieces. A lot of people are buying gold these days, but I'd be investing in original artwork from legendary comic book creators...

RETURN TO CAFFEINE PLANET

Back in 1995 I followed in the footsteps of my friend Miguel and transferred to Northern Illinois University, where I was able to have a daily comic strip in the school newspaper.

Somebody told me "write what you know", and for whatever reason I decided I knew about aliens and coffee...

what I didn't know could fill a book.

PLUNGE

This story originally saw print a decade ago in an anthology comic called Love In Tights (#6) from Slave Labor Graphics. It was written by B Clay Moore and inked by Neil with a layout assist from Anon.

Thanks for reading!

P.S Please visit my friend Will's site here. Better still, Buy his books!
He's an entertaining fellow and we're ganking his bandwidth every time we download CHEAP BULLETS. Send him love letters and maybe someday we'll get another comic out of him with Anon!

OBOY

Sometimes I wonder about superdudes... do they have friends? Good enough friends to let them know that if they're going to wear their shorts that tight they may as well switch to spandex?
Or is their best friend a reincarnation of Freddie Mercury, but they're so square they don't realize it?

Either way, I have very little paranoia that someone will come along and clue O-Boy in.
Speaking of paranoia though...
I don't really believe Dio died.

STRETCH IT OUT

My friends, some of us hurt. Chronically.
Some of us were powerbombed through an oak door. Some of us slipped on ice and hit our head. Some of us drink too much beer. But some of us just sit in one place all day at work, and then sit in one place at home until we lay in one place all night to sleep.
So all of us need a little stretch. Especially this guy, who used improper lifting techniques when robbing graves for his Mawthter.

Here's a little ink drawing I made for myself to remind me to get up and move around a few times a day. I'm pleased to share it with you & hope you will print one out for yourself and try it for at least a week.

SouthSide D & D

Before that horrible, horrible post the Soon boys came to my stompingrounds last night, and we decided that if we were going to spend our free time doing comics they should be comics we would enjoy.

Sounds simple when you type it the next morning, but it took us several hours to come to that. We were trying to do things "right" and second-guessing ourselves out of the direction we really needed to go.

I believe we're back on track, even if we spent a lot of time on YouTube.
